Single foods by age, with how to cut, cook and serve them, and the recipes they turn up in. Set the age once and every row follows. Everything here is from 6 months unless marked.
Age is a guide. Readiness, texture and allergens matter more than the number.

Avocado
Small cubes, lightly dusted in ground oats so they are less slippery. -
Banana
Split lengthways into thirds along the natural seams. -
Sweet potato
Soft cubes they can pick up. Still no skin. -
Egg
Omelette strips or scrambled egg in small soft pieces. -
Broccoli
Small florets, well steamed, so they can practise the pincer grip. -
Carrot
Soft small pieces, or grated into fritters. -
Salmon
Flakes they can pick up. Check twice for bones. -
Lentils
Thick lentil mash they can scoop by hand, or mixed into mashed vegetables. -
Oats
Thick porridge they can scoop. Soft oat fingers. -
Yoghurt
Plain yoghurt, perhaps with mashed fruit stirred through. -
Peanut butter
Thinned and spread very thinly on toast fingers. -
Blueberries
Flattened between your fingers so they cannot roll whole. -
Pasta
Small soft shapes they can pick up. No added salt in the water. -
Chicken
Finely shredded thigh meat, moist. -
Tofu
Cubes, lightly coated in ground oats for grip. -
Strawberries
Thin slices or small pieces. -
Toast
Thinner fingers or small squares. -
Cheese
Grated, or thin strips of a mild hard cheese.
