Golden veggie fritters

At 9 months babies are working on their pincer grip. Soft finger strips and small pieces both work.
Age is a guide. Readiness, texture and allergens matter more than the number.

For little ones
Same mix, set aside before the salt and chilli.
Set aside about a quarter of the mix before adding salt and chilli. Cook it as two small fritters a little longer so they hold together, then let them cool.
Finger-length stripsCut into strips about the size of your little finger.
They should squash easily between your thumb and finger. If not, they are too firm. A little crumbled feta is fine from now on in small amounts.

Method
- Grate the zucchini and carrot. Squeeze the zucchini hard in a clean tea towel until it stops dripping.
- Mix the vegetables, corn and spring onion in a large bowl. Beat in the eggs, then stir in the flour until just combined.Little one · Take out the little one's portion now, before the salt and chilli go in.
- Season the family mix with salt and chilli flakes.
- Heat the oil in a wide pan over medium heat. Drop in heaped spoonfuls and flatten gently.2 minLittle one · Cook the little one's fritters a minute longer so they hold together.
- Fry for 3 to 4 minutes a side until golden. Keep warm on a plate while you finish the batch.4 min
- Serve the family fritters with crumbled feta and a squeeze of lemon.Little one · Cool, then cut into finger-length strips.
