nohnom
The whole family around one table
About

Different characters. Same table.

nohnom is a family cookbook, kept online. Every recipe is one meal, cooked for the grown-ups, with a quiet note on what to do for the smallest person eating it.

We are one family in Australia with a baby who has just started solids, a few older kids with opinions, and parents who are tired by six o'clock. We did not want a baby food app and we did not want another recipe site that buries the method under a story. We wanted dinner, once, that everyone could eat.

So Emily writes down what we actually cook, tests it on us, and notes the date and the verdict. The animals are us. Mostly.

How a recipe gets here

Cooked for us first

  1. Cooked on a weeknight. Not a test kitchen. A real evening, with the baby on a hip for at least one step.
  2. Served twice.Once for the grown-ups, once adapted for Norah at her current age. Both get written down, including what she refused.
  3. Dated and kept honest. Each recipe shows when it was last cooked and gets the seal only once it has worked more than once.

Emily cooks, photographs and writes everything here. The feeding notes are hers too, checked against current Australian guidance and clearly marked when something is a personal preference rather than advice.
