Starting solids: the first two weeksDraft
This guide is a placeholder so the page structure exists. Emily writes the real one.
What readiness looks like
Sitting with little support, holding their head steady, and reaching for what is on your plate. Around six months for most babies, and not before four.
Day one
One food, one time of day, a calm hour after a milk feed. Nothing else new for two days.
Why the first fortnight is practice
Milk is still the meal. Solids are for learning: the texture, the spoon, the mess. Nothing has to go in.
